Has anyone here, trying to maintain a strictly secular practice, run headlong into issues centering on religion? What did you do in those cases?

Wed, March 4, 2009 - 4:23 PMi think these are really good threads.
wonder why no one replied.
let me take a stab at them...
dysfunctionally into religion?
yes, very much so.
religion can be very damaging and it easy to work with people who are aware that some sort of abuse or whatever has occurred. those who are still trapped within it often go around in circles creating more damage.
it is important to work very slowly and gently as religion can be something that holds a person together. in a way, keeps them from losing their shit all together as it gives them something to believe in. answers some of the bigger existential questions. -

Re: Religion/Spirituality?
Fri, March 6, 2009 - 8:27 PMI don't find religion very interesting, but I know quite a few really stellar people who are deeply religious. I respect that about them. They are not dysfunctional ...and I've met many who are dysfunctional idiots and conmen. -

Re: Religion/Spirituality?
Fri, August 14, 2009 - 2:25 PMI actually took a class last summer called the Psychology of Spiritual Development taught by Glen Richardson. It was very, very interesting. It tied developmental theory to Spirituality. -
